If you have an idea, we have a book

I’ll help you turn the story you always wanted to write into the book everyone wants to read. But I am different from other ghostwriting services in that I take a rough idea through a unique creative process, from draft, to pitch, to publication. If you’re a time-strapped professional struggling with the miserable prospect that your great story will remain untold, I’ll provide the skills to speed up the process, realise your vision and speak with your voice.

I'll be your ghost

My storytelling instincts and creative process, honed over twenty-five years, will transform the raw materials of your story into a focused, timeless and pitcheable book.

Ashley Stokes, your ghostwriter:

Ghostwriting your book: How it works

This is how I write for you:

We will spend time getting to know each other while finding the spine of your story. Together, we will work out a plan for the book that provides a route map for the first draft. Then we’ll continue with regular interviews chapter by chapter, draft by draft until the book is finished to your satisfaction. I’ll even write a pitch document and help you find an agent.

The ghosting process plan

This is where I take the raw material of your dream and work out how to turn it into something special. This collaborative part of the process is a lot of fun.

This is where it gets strategic. I’ll draw on my instincts for story shape to find the best techniques to tell your story in the most compelling way possible.

Once we have a draft, we’ll hone and perfect it twice until it’s in the best shape possible and ready to show.

What my clients say

If you’re inspired to tell your story, we need to talk.

Ghostwriting FAQ

I have a PDF booklet brimming with examples and extracts plucked from the best of my fiction, non-fiction and creative copy work. Just email enquiries@theghostingcompany.com and I’ll send you one straight back.

Each project is costed individually based on how much time it is expected to take, how long the book is approximately and a few other considerations and extras. I also have a day rate for additional work. Let’s have a chat and I’ll draw up a quote specific to your project.

The first step in finding a publisher is to write a publishable book, but I can certainly give you an extra boost, too. If you would like me to, I can draw up a concise yet high-impact pitch and prospectus document that you can send to agents or publishers. I do also have some industry contacts I can steer you towards.

I will spend some time getting to know you and your project, I’ll draw up a treatment, we’ll have regular catch-ups and assessments and I’ll write 2-3 drafts of your book, connecting with you all the way.

I specialise in all types of non-fiction and memoir and am especially interested in history, politics, economics, art and culture. For fiction, I can tackle general-literary, SF, crime, historical, thriller and horror. But: just ask. I should be able to help or point you in the right direction.
